In 1965 Bobbie Dylan was laying his ear on the highway of chaos, creativity and confusion and Bringing it all back home, it's 1995 now and Selfish is doing the same only better, he's Binging it all back home.

Bing Selfish is a suave, debonair, sophisticated, well travelled, articulate, politically hip, witty, sharp, free-thinking, modest individual. An elusive creature, a chameleon on the street of reality, for as he himself says "Life is change, change is life".

According to his still unpublished autobiography, Bing Selfish was born in the small village of Dzhebel in Southern Bulgaria in the year 1900. Unlikely as this might seem he refuses to accept any other version of events and indeed has been seen to get most upset when commentators observe that his behaviour and attitude seem more reflective of some anglo-irish parvenu born in the late fifties/early sixties and raised in the South of England than a romantic continental-style bohemian.

The first solid evidence of Selfish's existence cam with the release of a classic Bing Oriental rocker "Chiang-kai-shek" on a compilation of Barcelona bands in the mid-eighties. "I never should have gone to that Shanghai dock, Suzi said stay when I looked at the clock........"

Next came a 12" EP "Selfish Works" also recorded in Barcelona featuring five glorious glimpses of the Bing universe ; Spanish Dictators, Australia, He knows, Rekjavik and the Crush.

True to his philosophy of change, the late eighties found Selfish back in England editing and co-creating an amusing, subversive, underground comic "El Frenzy". "It was a colourful period, we had fun, and attempted to make people laugh, think and rebel, a difficult task in Thatcher's Britain".

In 1990 Bing founded his definitive backing band "the Ideals" and signed to small Zurich label "OOD" who put out his first LP "Meet Bing Selfish and the Ideals". "This album is serious, lightweight, funny and sad all at once and I found it instantly likeable"

"Unfortunately we blew the studio money on drink, drugs and sleazy soho goings on, so in the end we had to record the whole thing in five days in a converted warehouse in Hackney. We went for a live kind of sound and it comes off pretty well."

His latest release, "Binging it all back home" has set the agenda for the creative future of mankind. "Bing has a vulnerable crack in his voice that reminds me of the Kinks' Ray Davies. His songs are tacky political pop - he can write a song about the Chinese Cultural Revolution that is both very funny and very catchy. I wake up at night humming it. He compresses enormous meaning into a few sharp and simple words. This is a staggering work, funny, serious, catchy, intense. The production is immaculate, a sparkling cocktail of gritty guitars, twisted trumpets, sublime violins and real live drums, nothing more nor less than a classic of underground contemporary pop !"

And there's even a cameo appearance by Frank Chickens chanteuse Kazuko Hohki who is featured on the mysterious Kyoto kids.

A few examples of Bing's deadly words from Binging it all back home.
