Michael Cashmore
Biography
It has been Michael’s music along with the lyrical style of David Tibet, that has helped establish Current 93’s international reputation for producing some of the most challenging, profound and influencial works in contemporary music. Through working with Current 93 Michael has also recorded works with Antony (Antony and the Johnsons), Nick Cave, Mark Almond and many others.
Over the years Michael has become an influential figure through his guitar playing technique and musical compositions, and last year's solo album 'Sleep England' he produced new definition within his unique compositional style. Incorporating only electric and bass guitars, the album was a singular and very personal work of simple yet profound expression, and was received warmly by longtime C93 fans, along with lovers of the introverted styles of Bert Jansch and John Fahey.
The brand new five track record 'The Snow Abides' is a different beast altogether - Cashmore's compositions are fleshed out with full orchestration and feature the instantly recognisable vocals of Mercury Award winner Antony Hegarty (Antony & The Johnsons) singing lyrics from David Tibet.
