Caterpillar has two full length albums behind them, following a trail of
7"'s released on various U.S. indie
labels.
Caterpillar's attraction lies in their ability to traverse the hills and valleys of pop, uniquely forming a path between three chord "punk" rock and an (almost) country melancholy. Their curious lyrics seem to be concerned mostly with archaeology, rocks, and things found in dirt.
For their first LP release, Caterpillar worked with several producers including Geoff Turner (of Gray Matter) and Charles Bennington at WGNS, Adam Lasus (Madder Rose, Helium, Versus, etc.) at Studio Red and Art DiFuria (Bardo Pond, 9 Finger, etc.) at the Frizz. The varied studio settings aided Caterpillar in their exploration of different channels and contributed to the diversity of their first full length release.
Macdorium Chlorium Chloe is the second full length. This album features diverse songs taking musical turns at full speed, but the Catepillar understanding of melody still shines through. A real treat.
