Culture Shock - the UK ones, as oppose to the
Indianapolis/Holland/Scotland/Bhangra music lot (seemed to be a popular
name!) - mixed their punk roots with ska and raggae music to a previously
unheard extent and influenced the styles of bands like AOS3,
Back to the Planet, Bender, at a time when the free festival
scene was under state attack following the cessation of the Sronehenge
Festival; CS were one of a heap of bands playing as many festivals
as possible, alongside their more regular gigs and this earned them a
broard range of support. Their three LPs, Go Wild, Onwards
and Upwards and All The Time!, were released on Bluurg
Records. They did 205 gigs between 86-89 and split when Nigel
(guitar) and Bill (drums) became parents. Paul on bass was
replaced by Jasper (ex Rhythmites) in 89 and he and
Dick (vocals) formed Citizen Fish.
