The Capitol City Dusters - Reason
Aina - Lutton can wait
| The Dusters and Aina toured together for 6 weeks in
Europe and October and November of 1999. They played 34 shows in 12 countries,
blew up 6 amps (4 on the road, 2 in a music store), 2 PAs (only if you
count the one that Jesse built), and one van. These two songs were featured
on a limited edition tour seven inch put out by the Spanish label BCore
Disc to celebrate the tour. Superbad and Dischord are now releasing the current edition. Aina are from Barcelona, Spain. They have released two albums on BCore Disc and have been featured on several compilations including the "Emo Diaries" in the US on Deep Elm Records. They have toured extensively in Europe and have accompanied many DC bands (Bluetip, Kerosene 454, The Boom) touring in Spain, as well as the like of Bob Tilton in the UK. They play spirited and urgent punk rock with a nod to their DC heroes Jawbox and a not so subtle infatuation with ACDC. Aina acknowledge these influences, then transcend them with a beautiful and original guitar work and a lyrical urgency that is truly inspirational. Lutton Can Wait embodies the best of all these qualities and had kids waving lighters at them throughout the tour. The Capitol City Dusters are from Washington, DC. They have released an album, a 7" and a 10" all on Dischord/Superbad. They have toured the US twice, Europe once and have played countless regional shows. Their contribution to this split 7", Reason finds them delving deeper into their new-wave fixation with an initial emphasis on the rhythm section and subdued spaces. This apparent calm is ultimately exploded by the kind of lush guitar melodies and surging vocals that made punk rock essential in the first place. Reason was recorded by Brendan Canty (Fugazi) at the Pirate House studio and offers a glimpse into what The Dusters will by up to in 2000... |
