DYMAXION 'EP' 7" ()

Welcome to Intonarumori, another chapter in the strange and wonderful world of Dymaxion!!!

On this, 's second Dymaxion single, Jeremy Novak & Claudia Newell reconvenes the tone generators, electronic sound bursts, shifting time signatures, split-level beats and samples from the garage of yesteryear also heard on singles on Hemiola (UK), Vesuvius (UK) and Duophonic (UK). Dymaxion sets forth assembling the stripped-down, lo-tech tracks and song snippets that simultaneously evoke the cartoon music of Carl Stalling, The Fall, The BBC Radiophonic Workshop and contemporaries such as Deerhoof, Matmos and Stereolab. Outer space pulsations, off-kilter guitar riffs, breaks that make cover you smile - Dymaxion creates soundtracks where a sense of disorientation goes hand in hand with a playful sense of purpose. For a project that is primarily confined to a studio, Dymaxion has performed quite frequently over the last year or so. The live band is expanded to a four-piece including current and former members of Fly Ashtray, The Wharton Tiers Ensemble and Autobody. This line-up supported Stereolab on the Northeast leg of their most recent US tour. The tour culminated in three memorable gigs at New York's Irving Plaza with Dymaxionroomtone, Papa M, Jim O'Rourke & Gorky's Zygotic Mynci joining Stereolab for the encore each night. Stateside the band has also played with Mogwai, To Rococo Rot, Tarwater, Tower Recordings & Home.

Dymaxion has also played a few dates in the UK where the band has received support from John Peel. The shows with The Pastels brought Dymaxion to Scotland in 1998 where the band had an opportunity to perform on The Beat Room TV Show with Mt. Vernon Arts Lab.
