DŸSE

Biography

Formed in the Spring of 2003 and named after the Dysecatmotel in Amsterdam where the bands member's first met, Dÿse (pronounced Doo-zer) began as a fun, drunken side project for Jari Rebelein and André Dietrich who wanted a new musical challenge and a chance to write songs with no limitations.

Born and raised in Neustadt/Orla, Thuringia in Germany, Jari's first musical influences were in the punk and hardcore scene - inspired by the bands Gorilla Biscuits, Cro-Mags and Dead Kennedys. Growing up in a musical and social wasteland he soon found a few like-minded comrades to escape the daily bleakness of reality and in 1997 Jari joined his first band Nail as their guitar player. Nail performed countless gigs all over Germany but Jari soon decided to leave the band to further his education. Not long after settling into his new home of Jena, Jari got the musical itch once more and formed good-time stoner rock band Rodeo Queen, now as the drummer.

André was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt, a city known today as Chemnitz. He started playing the electric guitar in his late teens and got to work on the loud, heavy, distorted sounds he'd spent his young life searching for. Armed with this new weapon of mass construction he formed his first band Demented, as this project was put to rest while André began experimenting in more electronic methods of musical production, another rock band was formed with friend and bass player Nico, and joined by drummer Boris. The three became the unpronounceable Roerhedds, before changing their name to the English-friendly VOLT. Together with Jari's band Rodeo Queen, Volt played many shows throughout Germany building strong friendships between both bands members, cementing the foundations for DŸSE.

In 2004 Dÿse was born and 'Honig' (the first in a trilogy of seven inches) was released. The second single 'Aga Ragnag' came out in 2005, and the third and final installment 'Houthakkertje' in 2006. To promote the completion of the 7 inches, Jari and André booked themselves a grueling four-week tour across Europe and the UK. The response to each show was overwhelming as audiences everywhere were blown away by this unique, energetic and incredibly entertaining duo. When the band returned home they were approached to join the Exile On Mainstream family.

2007 will mark the release of their self titled debut album.
