End Of Level Boss

Biography

Formed by former Hangnail guitarist/vocalist Heck Armstrong after returning from a successful tour of Europe and Japan supporting Cathedral, End Of Level Boss was created to explore the need for off-kilter riffs and misshapen timing.

Their first release, an EP entitled 'Experiment', was recorded in 2003 in a deserted warehouse just outside Berlin. The pressing sold out quickly as the band played a series of dates supporting the likes of Orange Goblin, Budgie, The Atomic Bitchwax and The Hidden Hand.

As 2004 died, End Of Level Boss locked themselves into one of the last remaining fully analogue studios in London and recorded their debut album 'Prologue' for Exile On Mainstream Records. Sharing the Exile roster with like-minded musicians Volt, Place Of Skulls, Ostinato and The Hidden Hand, End Of Level Boss found a home from which they can spread their noise across the planet.

'Prologue' saw the light of day in September 2005 and was followed by extensive gigging in Europe and the UK. The band played several European tours including appearances on the 2005 edition of the mighty Stoned From The Underground fest, the 2006 installment of Roadburn Festival and in September 2006 they laid waste to visitors at the South Of Mainstream festival where they appeared as co-headliners alongside Orange Goblin, Place Of Skulls and Todd. This dedication to the live delivery of the riff gained the band an intense following and has since created a strong and dedicated fanbase throughout the whole of Europe and beyond.

In early 2006 the band underwent some line-up changes by replacing drummer Gareth Millsted with shell-butchering machine Ben Hallett. Later in the year guitarist James Ogawa (Ex-Hangnail) left the band to pursue personal interests and concentrate on his family. He was replaced by doom riffmeister extraordinaire Roland Scriver of Sloth (Rise Above Records) complimenting the EOLB riffs with his heavy, dirty, doom-laden guitar tones.

So here's where we stand: End Of Level Boss present themselves as a structure stronger than ever, tighter than tight and burning to lay their noise across the globe. Their sophomore album will demonstrate EOLB are a band that no one inside the global rock world can escape. Massive touring is planned throughout spring and autumn to support the release of 'Inside the Difference Engine', including full European and UK dates and a selection of festival appearances in the summer of 2007.
