Gray Matter formed in the summer of 1983 and played around the DC area until the spring of 1986. In the summer of 1986, Dante went on to play drums for Ignition and Geoff, Steve, and Mark stayed together and formed the band 3 with Jeff Nelson on drums. After 3 broke up, Geoff played guitar and sang for Senator Flux, Mark played guitar for Severin , Steve started a publishing company, Arcane Comix. Gray Matter reformed in the spring of 1990 and toured parts of the U.S. and Europe. Geoff runs WGNS Studio, recording a number of local bands. Dante opened a restaurant in D.C. called Dante's in 1990, and a club, The Black Cat, in 1993.
