BIOGRAPHY

Hanalei is the name of the solo debut of Chicago transplant Brian Moss, better known as the chief singer/songwriter in the post-punk band The Ghost. The Ghost, a band who lived by the mutual agreement that music is life, were formed from the ashes of local and national touring acts in March 2001. Brian Moss continues to work with The Ghost, who have recently completed a new album.

Hanalei takes a more subtle approach, blending elements of folk, pop, country and electronica, a beautiful and haunting sound has been created. Melancholic and comforting all at once, both the music and the words are an cathartic expression of the act of living.

We're All Natural Disasters, the debut full length from Hanalei, is a record posessing vast sonic and poetic depth. Eloquently orchestrated guitars, self-harmonized vocals, minimalistic westerns, and beats spanning the influences of bass-heavy hip-hop, to disco spread out across this fifty minute epic. Brian's self taught, and sometimes awkward song writing abilities mesh with his empathetic and observant personality and his diverse musical tastes to produce a captivating record, that whether it's destined to be a well kept secret or a well known sucess will surely find some militantly dedicated, and deeply affected listeners Call it what you will, we just call it good.
