When Ida released "Will You Find Me" (Tiger
Style) to overwhelming critical praise in the summer of 2000,
word was already out about "The Braille Night". Ida
had recorded enough material for two full length albums while signed
to Capitol records, and the second album "The Braille Night"
was a few mixes away from completion. Following 6 months of touring
in support of "Will You Find Me", Ida stepped
out of their van and back into the studio to put the finishing touches
on what is now their fifth full-length, "The Braille Night".
Most of the songs on "The Braille Night" were recorded
during the "Will You Find Me" sessions. Incorporating
some of the sonic and improvisational elements of their recent tours,
but always placing experimentation in the service of the songs, the
sound of this record is darker and looser than previous Ida releases.
Haunting, minimalist, and breathtakingly beautiful, "The Braille
Night" captures Ida in its most personal light. With 10 songs
ranging from electric rockers to quiet acoustic songs and ambient
drone instrumentals, this is possibly the most adventurous and intimate
Ida recording yet. "The Braille Night" is a split
release between Tiger Style, and Ida's own label, Last Affair
Records. "Will You Find Me" achieved massive
success in the US, selling over 10,000 copies. Ida played as
Lisa Loeb's backing band for a while. Carla from Ida's side
project, K, have a split single
with Low out now.

"Every once in a while an album comes along that
just knocks the wind right out of you...WYFM is that good...the
most intricate and beautiful album the band has offered yet."
Time Out New York
"They go beyond the mere aural radiance, as sung
and instrumental harmonies encircle each other like shared desires
that still can't transcend the essential loneliness each lover must
feel."
Jon Pareles, New York Times
"This New York band is all about intimacy and
the coziness of its music is beautiful."
Ann Powers, New York Times
