"My mom, in fact, was born in 1944," says former Rodan guitarist Jeff Mueller about his new venture, June Of '44. "and Sean's grandfather was in the war of '44."

The band's name actually refers to author Henry Miller's letters to his wife June and his affair with writer Anais Nin, and features Mueller, Sean "Heavy" Meadows (also in Lungfish), Fred Erskine (Hoover and The Crownhate Ruin) and Doug Scharin (Codeine, Rex, Him). Meadows and Mueller each had songs they'd worked out and over a mere three-and-a-half weeks of practice, the quartet had a complete set of songs heavy on dynamics and atmospheres.
