Directly on the heels of the band's second album, Tropics and Meridians,
released in June of 96, this EP takes a more experimental approach.
Kicking in with the magnificent "Sharks and Sailors", a 11:15 slice of beautiful rock action filled with the subtlety and time changes that you can expect from this fine company. "Boom" charts a different course and exposes a new side of June Of 44 as the simple trumpet and percussion crafts an atmospheric feeling that bodes well for the new album late in '97. The almost mathrock feel of "Steamer" brings our voyage to a close and highlights Fred's vocality and love of love. The EP was recorded at the Chicago Recording Company, Chicago IL and mixed at Idful Muisc, Chicago IL. Recorded by Bob Weston. Both the CD and 12" come in a delux fold-out matchbox sleeve. |
