Kinski
breaks free from the typical, charting their own heavy, hypnotic and beautiful course. Be Gentle With the Warm Turtle captures this brilliantly-the amps turned all the way up, songs allowed to both rock and breathe. Since 1998 Kinski has been building a sizeable Northwest following with their phenomenal live performances and impressive 1999 self-released first album, Space Launch for Frenchie. Kinski proudly draws influence from Japanese psychedelic bands such as High Rise and Fushitsusha, and as it should be, guitarist and vocalist Chris Martin works hard to bring attention to these bands and their contemporaries, even going so far as arranging for several of them to visit the NW.

2000 was a busy year for Kinski, with two US tours, supporting first Hovercraft and then Silkworm. As well, the band made time to record Be Gentle With the Warm Turtle with Kip Beelman (Sleater Kinney, Juno), and played regular NW shows (including packed rooms at NXNW, CMJ and the Terrastock 4 Festival). 2001 should prove to be even busier with the single "Newport" from the new record coming out on the Sur La Plage label (in the UK) in February and upcoming spring and summer tours trekking Kinski through the majority of the U.S..
