She was replaced by Todd, ex drummer of label mates Heck. In November 1996 they recorded their debut album, "Maid to Minx", which was released on Vesuvius in July 1997. During this period Mo-Mo decided to leave because touring was getting too much for her. The rest of July was spent touring the U.K. with Glasgow based band the Yummy Fur to promote the album and the new single, "Right Now Baby", which was played by Jo Whiley on her Radio One afternoon show. At this time Kill Rock Stars released a compilation CD and a 10" of Lung Leg's first two singles exclusively for the American market. They ended July with headlining the Sunday Mail stage at the T in the Park Festival and an album launch at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut. They followed this with a session and interview on Radio Scotland Beat Control and a show at Edinburgh's Plant Pop Festival. September was spent
looking for a new guitarist and they were lucky to find the perfect
person for the job, Phillippa, a good friend and ex guitarist of all
rock band Dick Johnson. In December 1997 they went back on the
road, this time as tour support for Washington DC's Make Up. They then finished the
year with a sell out show in London with the Yummy Fur. |
