Monorchid biography

biography

...Bands of today attempt to reinvent music by borrowing (i.e., leeching) from obscure reference points of popular culture. Yet these counterfeiters create a soul-less sound that can only be likened to decaf-coffee or non-alcoholic beer.

The Monorchid, having obtained licensure in organic retro-synthesis, succeed where others have failed by combining seemingly distant elements of: Southern boogie, post-traumatic stress disorder, "Switched on Bach", and EST to produce a sweet smelling, dark and tarry substance . The five man music ensemblage will have you jumping up and down or at least demanding a refund.

If you don't already know, Monorchid rose from the ashes of CIRCUS LUPUS, a very popular DC band that put out two records on Dischord. After their breakup, two alums went on to form Las Mordidas that had a 7" out on Compulsiv/Dischord, which, after a few member changes, turned into Monorchid.

Since this solid lineup formed, Monorchid has appeared on four 7"s - their debut 7" on Lovitt Records, the Lovitt Empire comp 7", a 7" on the San Diego-based Gravity Records and most recently a 7" on Simple Machines.

The album Let Them Eat....The Monorchid was released a while back . It was recorded by J. Robbins of Jawbox at Inner Ear studios.
The band have a new LP/CD out on Touch and Go Records. It's called Who Put Out The Fire. Listen to a track
