A collection of Paul Newman's rarer material, "Re-issue!" is the second full-length release on My Pal God by Paul Newman, and their fourth such endeavor since 1998. This historical document covers Paul Newman's evolution from their first single up through material that did not make it's way onto their most recent full-length "Machine is Not Broken" in March of 2001.

This compact disc shows Paul Newman's work over the years to be a study in contrasts. The quiet instrumental guitar work of a song like "Way to Breathe, No-Breath" evokes memories of Peter Hook and New Order 12 inches. The quiet, somber echoes of "December '91 or So" would not be out of place with the earliest of your Cure records. Yet when less evocative and more fierce, Paul Newman can cut loose jigsaw guitars and manic distortion in songs like "Popcorn" and "Clear Baby," or drown you out with their screams on a song like "Beeline to Mamou."

Material on this CD was first found on: the Paul Newman/Sonna split 45 released by Temporary Residence, the "Zum Audio Volume 2" Cd released by the magazine of the same name, the Twistworthy #7 CDEP, the long forgotten "There is a Light" compilation, volume one of "The My Pal God Holiday Record" [mpg020], and the "Twistworthy #3" 45. Track 8 is previously unreleased. Several tracks from the earliest Paul Newman releases have been remixed for this CD, and all the songs have been remastered as well.

Most of the releases collected on this CD has never been properly distributed to the UK and Europe.

Although the members of Paul Newman are still living in three different cities (Austin,Texas; Chicago, Illnois; New York, New York State), the balance is shifting towards NYC, and the group are planning to make their next album there in the summer of 2001. "Hope springs eternal," or something to that effect.
