Happy 2005 from Rachel's! We've got a few things going on in the first half of the year that we'd like to tell you about:
Rachel's will be hitting the road to play shows and warm hearts in the last week of February and first two weeks of March. The band will be Christian Frederickson - viola, and laptop sounds; Edward Grimes - drums and keyboards; Rachel Grimes - piano; Greg King - films, percussion and keyboards; Eve Miller - cello; Jason Noble - guitar, bass, and sampler. You can expect a mix of songs from all six records, and hopefully a new song or four.
Confirmed shows, as of this date are:

'systems/layers' - LIVE!
On Thursday, March 17th at 7:30 pm, Rachel's and the SITI Co. will present the 75-minute theatrical production of 'systems/layers' at the Krannert Center in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. It features 8 actors, 4 Rachel's along with 8 additional musicians, projections by Greg King, lights, costumes, chair slamming and office sex. We premiered it at Utah State University in September, and it was an amazing experience. Tons of gratitude to all who were involved in making it happen.
This performance is currently a one-of-a-kind thing, i.e. 'systems/layers' doesn't have any other bookings at the moment. So, if you're curious and it's at all feasible to get to Champaign-Urbana, we highly recommend it.

Rachel's will have a new EP out this spring as the last installment of the Purposeful Availment series on North Carolina's three lobed recordings It's called 'Technology is Killing Music' and it consists of a single, 18-minute track in the style of 'systems/layers'. We built it out of a lot the extra bits and pieces we had left over from the systems/layers sessions. The EP is a subscription-only deal, but we're hoping to have copies in time for tour, which will be the only way to get one, if you're not already a subscriber. Thanks to Cory Rayborn and all the subscribers for their patience as we've dawdled on this one for about 3 years.

We've made a short film for an upcoming Touch n Go/Quarterstick Video Compilation. It's a piece that our friend Greg King put together, then we made a song to go with it ("4 or 5 Trees").... party. The Comp doesn't have a set release date yet...
