Sea Tiger is a side project of Josh LaRue and Stuart
Fletcher of The
Sorts. Sea Tiger is mostly instrumental and, like the
Sorts, draws heavily upon jazz rhythms and guitar figures. However,
where the Sorts tip the musical cap to luminaries such as Wes
Mongomery, Sea Tiger could be more closely associated with
Arturo Sandoval.
Sea Tiger utilizes an array of pedal effects, polyrhythmic drum
beats and quirky melodies to create an eclectic blend of jazz, indie
guitar rock and Parliment-style funk. Put on a Sea Tiger record and
you automaticaly start to swagger. Sea Tiger records have even been
proven to make pasty, shoe gazing teenagers start tapping their feet and
shaking their booties a bit.
"Theme Song" is being released in anticipation of the first Sea
Tiger full-length, to be released on Troubleman Records later
this year. Sea Tiger also released an EP on Troubleman as
well.
