Here is the latest installment in The Softies own self written soap opera.
It only takes a few seconds of listening to The Softies to realize that
there is nothing comparable to the beauteous harmonies of Rose and Jen.
Winter Pageant is the drama of utter melancholia. Rose and Jen don't
create the anguish. They document what they see and what they see is love
lost, broken promises, phone calls missed, and conversations stalled. The
world of love is lonely and confusing and The Softies capture these
emotions perfectly with songs like "So Sad", "About You", and "Make Up
Your Mind". Don't despair though. With each song there is always the
element of hope. Winter Pageant is the perfect accompaniment to the
dreariness that January and February exemplify. Spring is just around the
corner.
"Something about the way the two voices play off each other makes me want
to use the word "sparkle" fifteen times in a row..." Popwatch
"The delicate voices of the two women twist playfully around each other in
perfect pop melodies..." College Music Journal (CMJ)
