The S Process are:

Bob Doto
(vocals, guitar, mind-numbing grad school banter)
Daneil Mazone
(drums, vocals, arbitrary fits of rage)
and
Julian Greffe
(keyboards, guitar, incessant references to the DJ lifestyle.)

photoBob and Daneil have been making music under the S Process since 1996.

Julian stepped up and in at the chime of the millennium. At last count, there have been 11 different bass players. Essentially, they have a rotating band member.

New Jersey born and bred, the S Process called Philly home. Broken hearts, well-earned degrees and pit stops in Providence Rhode Island and Boulder, Colorado have all been contributing factors in their personal and musical evolution. The band, once separated by state lines and in-piece-style song composition are now on common ground geographically and metaphorically.

photoThey previously released an EP (Self-titled,) a 7" and a Full-length album (More Me) on Trackstar Records. Their new home is frenchkiss records out of New York City, a label founded and run by Syd Butler, Les Savy Fav Bassist.

"MNML" was recorded with Producer Extraordinaire, Phil Ek (Modest Mouse, Built To Spill, Luminaries Galore.) Bob describes the experience, "With Phil, we knew our record would sound 'correct,' which was a new experience for us. He's also a great person to spend time with, once you get used to the height thing."(Ek is a towering 6'6")

When asked how the band would describe their sound to a six year-old, Bob replies, "I would tell this child that although our music is not unlike spelling bees, arithmetic, your mom dressing you, obsessing over animated plastic objects or finding members of the opposite sex unnecessary and weird." He adds, "Our music is also intentional and direct." Daneil's description, "We sound a lot like Britney Speers if, instead of dating Justin and being lusted after by millions, she spent her youth having sex with incompetent emo boys."

The meaning behind the name, S Process, as revealed by Daneil: "It used to be a reference to Sex. Now it's a reference to our constant pursuit of a steady diet of simplicity - ya know, keeping it real. yo."

When asked what record changed their lives. The band replies: Daneil - "I asked my Mommy to buy me Zenyatta Mondatta by The Police when I was 11. I started playing drums the next week."

Julian - "The Mahavishnu Orchestra"

Bob - "Sonic Youth's Confusion is Sex and Swans Kill the Child."
