Stinking Lizaveta has been an instrumental trio since 1994. Their first album, "...hopelessness and shame" ('94) was recorded by Steve Albini. That same year they toured the U.S. with Zeni Geva (Alternative Tentacles) and Today Is The Day (AmRep). In the following two years they played countless shows on the East coast consistently dazzling audiences. Bruce Warren, program director of WXPN, said of them in a review in The Philadelphia Inquirer, "They play every show as if it were their last." In '96 they accomplished a three month national tour. In '97 they released their second album, "Slaughterhouse" which was recorded by Steve Austin of Today Is The Day. Since then Stinking Lizaveta has toured constantly and sold out all their albums. This third album, "III," features their trademark upright electric bass, heavy drum backbeats, and sceaming Les Paul attack. Also featured on the album are chaotic keyboards, violin, acoustic guitar, bowed bass, and vocals; new sounds as compared to the starkness of their earlier albums. Is it metal, skate-punk, or goth? One fan described their music as "chaostrophy." The riffs are there. Check it out! |
