Transmisia is an unique band coming out of the former Yugoslavian country
of Croatia. They're the sons of seminal bands the likes of which Laibach
and Borghesia brought along on tour in the early days. Other bands they
supported include Christian Death, Godflesh, Legendary Pink Dots,
NoMeansNo, and New Bomb Turks.
Transmisia released two studio albums which impressed international
audiences, receiving press; and label interest from Invisible, Touch and
Go in the U.S. and most recently, Southern Studios in the UK.
The new album Frigid Prose is a special project conceived by Mick Harris
of Scorn and Eraldo Bernocchi, who were heavily impressed by the rage and
noisy assault of the band's first two albums. Frigid Prose contains
material from the sessions of the first two albums; previously unreleased
tracks; and remixes that led to new and completely different versions
(additions include touches of dub and smearings of dark ambience).
The new Transmisia album delivers a mixture of hardcore-punk and
industrial dub styled songs. Frigid Prose leads you to the place in your
soul where rage and darkness can take over. The journey to which the
listener is delivered, is one through war torn landscapes dense with
post-industrial sounds. The soul seering energy and tension of that war
are felt throughout the record.
The music of Transmisia is not "easy listening", but Frigid Prose has
taken the band's trademark rage and slowed the pace. The album combines a
variety of atmospheres which draw their influence from dub, ethno-sounds,
drum-beats, and ambient textures.
