The Van Pelt are a four piece band from New York City. They feature
former
members of Native
Nod,
Greyhouse (both very influential early 90s
emotional hardcore bands), Blonde
Redhead, and Resurrection. Their debut
full length, "Stealing From Our Favorite
Thieves", reached #39 on the
Gavin college radio chart in the U.S. and has sold more than 6,000 copies
so far despite the band having only played a few area shows and a D.I.Y.
cross country tour of the States. The 2nd Van Pelt full length,
"Sultans
of Sentiment", sees the band taking a more "twinkly" approach to
the music
without lacking any of the power and sickeningly catchy melodies that they
are loved for. If you buy only one album this year, as they say...
