The Machines Series was the original plan for Simple Machines. Back in 1989, Jenny and then partner Brad Sigal figured it would be a challenge to put out 6 compilations 7"s, and if they succeeded and got to the end, they would know whether they wanted to continue as a full-fledged label. The answer, by 1993, was obviously "Yes".

Since it was impossible to keep all this stuff in print, we compiled all six 7"s on one 80 minute CD, which not only recaptures the glorious sounds of our first release, but all six of the machine 4-band compilation 7"s that are now out of print -
