Upset The Rhythm

T.I.T.S. & Leopard Leg occurred in the meeting of San Francisco’s T.I.T.S. and Brighton’s Leopard Leg, two all-girl noise outfits united in their determination to push back the boundaries of experimental rock. T.I.T.S. are a four-piece comprising Kim West, Abbey Kerins, Mary Elizabeth Yarbrough and Wendy Farina between squalling feedback and caterwauling medieval chants. An emphasis on rhythmic power and drive forms the foundation for their distinctive olde metal sound, freaked-out and doom-laden, by turns fun and frightening.

Leopard Leg offer a more abstract take on dark pagan noise; a ten-piece collective, their rhythmic, atonal explorations utilise a diverse range of instruments and are crafted from spontaneous, interlocking improvisations; swelling from rustic scrapings into cacophonous wailings of invented percussion, violins, bowed saw and bass, their epic jams mutate into something truly alien and beyond the control of the assembled musicians. Like that of T.I.T.S., the Leopard Leg sound is strikingly boiling and intense; while there are obvious superficial differences, both acts are unified in their darkness, power and spontaneity.
