Quite a resume these three boys had, reaching back to Peter Prescott's
tenure in
Mission Of Burma, David Kleiler's term with
Sorry
and
Bob Weston's present position as bass player in
Shellac. As a
band VOLCANO SUNS released a packet of albums.
Available on Quarterstick Records is the album Career in
Rock and the
single Blue Rib. Both were recorded in
the autumn of 1990 at Chicago Recording
Company with Steve Albini engineering. These releases uped the
'SUN's
ante in rhythmic punch and guitar
smear, like a tottering Fatty
Arbuckle tanked up on nitrous oxide and looking for a
party. Today they still represent the perfect marriage between the
band's
Burmaesque song style, a sawtooth
guitar sound, and a jabbing rhythmic whump.
