Hurrah! The Evens are touring the UK and Ireland right now, the first time since their critically-acclaimed debut was released last year. The Evens are a band from Washington, D.C. Ian MacKaye (Fugazi) plays baritone guitar and Amy Farina (The Warmers ) plays drums. They both sing.

The band's nigh epic tour of the UK, takes in 17 dates, including a spree in Ireland, Wales, and Scotland as well as England. No stone is left unturned, no corner overlooked. Coventry? Check. Galway? Check. Swansea? Check. Woah, these guys are treating us well!

The Evens perform stripped down, almost folk-like variations on the rock song. Their sound relies on intimacy as much as intensity, the lyrics as politically charged as they are emotionally wrought. Yet at the heart of the band's dynamic is a certain quietitude and sensitivity that ties all this together into a strong pop sensibility. The sound of the band translates to their choice of venues on this tour too, intimate and unusual spaces prevail, leaving the horrid rock venue outside in the cold, only wish I could go see them play every night!
