The Chicago office of Southern Records has two immediate vacancies in our sales department. Our Chicago office is a distributor of a wide range of independent music and both positions will require self-starters who are passionate about music, and have previous sales experience.
Senior Sales & Marketing Person
A challenging role in our dynamic sales team, which will require an experienced self-starter with the ability to make an immediate contribution to our team.
This is a full time position with benefits. Salary will commensurate with experience.
Candidates should possess the following attributes:
- Prior music industry sales experience.
- Motivation to provide an exceptional standard customer service, and appreciation of the fact that the customer is one of our most important assets.
- An immense passion for unique/independent/underground music.
- Ability to maintain established accounts and generate new business as required.
- Top notch phone skills required for communicating with established accounts on a daily basis. Some cold calling is also required.
- Marketing experience in the retail environment at a chain and independent level, and an appreciation of different approaches to marketing individual labels and releases.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent creative writing skills and the ability to produce sales and marketing literature.
- Strong analytical and critical reasoning skills.
- Strong computer skills, experience with all standard office software. Basic graphic design skills would be an advantage.
- The ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast-paced and evolving work environment
- Available to attend musical events/concerts on a regular basis. Some overnight travel may be required.

This is an entry level sales and marketing role. We are looking for someone to assist the other members of the sales team in a variety of tasks and duties.
